This review is for technician Cabot. He came to my house to give an estimate to locate the main water line to the house so I would know where not to plant a tree. Unfortunately, he was unable to do it based on the fact that the builders used PEX and did not run a tracer wire with the pipe. However, Cabot stuck around and gave me a "best guess" on the path the pipe took based on the location of the meter and the house inlet. He suggested places where the tree would be ok and where I should probably not plant it. Even though he could not tell me where the pipe was and I will still need to be careful, I do appreciate his time.
One thing he did mention was that if he had been able to do this, it would have typically been around $900. I do not claim to be an expert or know what is involved, but $900 to locate 15 feet of pipe would have been way out of my budget. For that price, I would have just dug the hole carefully and much bigger than needed to make sure I did not come across the pipe.
